Coach, accountant, lawyer or tutor: how to find the right professional online
How to describe what you need, compare profiles and choose the right professional for a one-to-one video session.
Looking for help online can feel overwhelming. There are many profiles, many titles and many promises. A few simple steps help you go from a vague feeling that you need help to a conversation with the right person.
Start with what you need, not with a title
Describe your situation in plain words: "I want to set up my bookkeeping as a freelancer", "my child needs help with maths", "I need to understand a rental contract". Searching on what you need often leads to better matches than searching on a job title, because many professionals cover more than one field.
Language and country matter
For anything involving rules, taxes or contracts, choose someone who knows the country those rules come from. For personal topics such as coaching or mentoring, the language you speak most comfortably often matters more than where the other person lives.
Read profiles with a critical eye
- Does the description match your situation, or is it very general?
- Are the sessions clearly described, with their length and price?
- Which languages does the professional speak?
- Is it clear what you can expect from a first session?
Ask a question first
If you are not sure, send a short message or request first. How someone answers, and how clearly, tells you a lot about what working together will feel like.
Keep it one to one
Many questions are personal, financial or simply too specific for a group. A one-to-one session gives you the full attention of the professional and room to ask what you really want to know.
That is how creoviva works: you search by what you need, country and language, and only see professionals who match your search. You send a request without needing an account, the professional accepts it first, and then you meet face to face by webcam, right in your browser.
